It’s so true. Remus is such an amazing character. He has so many flaws and was held back by many fears in his time: the fear of standing up to his friends and the fear of entering a relationship with Tonks given his condition, age and financial status, but he broke through so many of them and through his kindness, wisdom and love, taught Harry so much about overcoming fear. 

It utterly breaks my heart that he died during the Battle of Hogwarts, but I do feel enormously glad that Harry was able to have that last conversation with him, where he was able to tell him that though he was sorry to have died with his son being just a child, he was “trying to make a world in which he could live a happier life.”  That is just what Lily and James did for Harry and it is so amazing that he got to know a man living in the same terrible, dangerous situation as his parents so he could truly understand the weight of their sacrifice.
